Malie Donn Releases “Golden Child” Music Video With Squash Ahead Of Debut Album

Malie Donn and Squash connect on “Golden Child” as the Jamaican artist continues his rise in dancehall

Jamaican dancehall artist Malie Donn brings his journey to the screen with “Golden Child,” the title track from his upcoming debut album.

The song features veteran dancehall artist Squash and carries a personal meaning for Malie Donn. He describes the title as a reflection of the struggles and challenges he has faced while building his career.

The track also represents a full-circle moment. Squash played an important role during Malie Donn’s early development and helped connect him with his longtime manager, ATTO.

A personal title track

“Golden Child” is more than an album title for Malie Donn.

The artist has described the song as a reflection of his journey. It focuses on being tested, overcoming obstacles and continuing to push forward.

That message also connects with the album’s wider identity. The Golden Child explores street experiences, motivation, lifestyle and personal growth.

The project features 21 songs and is currently scheduled for release on September 4 through VP Records.

Squash makes the collaboration full circle

Squash’s appearance adds another layer to the record.

The 6ix Boss was involved in Malie Donn’s early career and helped introduce him to ATTO. Their appearance together on the title track therefore carries more weight than a standard guest feature.

The two artists have also collaborated before. Their previous work includes “Tun It Up (Dawk N Dunce),” released in 2024.

For Malie Donn, bringing Squash onto “Golden Child” connects his beginnings with the next stage of his career.

The production keeps Malie’s sound raw

Malie Donn has developed a style that combines modern dancehall with trap-influenced production and melodic vocals.

For The Golden Child, the production comes from a mix of established and emerging names. Din Din, Attomatic Records, DJ Frass Records and Salkey Recordz are among the producers attached to the project.

Malie also takes a selective approach to riddims. He has explained that he only records when a beat immediately connects with his energy.

That approach helps explain the direct delivery that has become part of his identity.

Six videos support the album

“Golden Child” is also part of a larger visual rollout.

Malie Donn has already shot six music videos for the project. Billboard reports that the videos include “Holiday” and “Golden Child” with Squash.

The videos were filmed across Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, giving the album campaign different visual settings.

The strategy gives the project a stronger visual identity while allowing multiple songs to receive individual attention.

From “V6” to The Golden Child

Malie Donn’s rise accelerated after “V6” helped establish him as a major voice among dancehall’s newer generation.

He has since built a growing catalogue that includes “Van Cleef,” “Van Cleef Pt. 2,” “Cups Up,” “7:00” and “Holiday.”

His momentum has also reached international markets. Billboard reports that Malie Donn has recorded more than 36.7 million official on-demand U.S. streams in 2026 alone.

He is also preparing for a major London performance at indigo at The O2 on September 5.

A defining moment for Malie Donn

“Golden Child” brings together several important parts of Malie Donn’s story.

The song reflects his struggles. Squash represents an important connection to his beginnings. The visual expands the album campaign. Meanwhile, the production reflects the raw and flexible sound Malie has continued to develop.

With The Golden Child approaching its September release, Malie Donn is using the title track to make a statement about how far he has come — and where he believes he is going next.
